Gondolo is a male lightfoot halfling scout who serves as one of two incompetent fortune hunters available as guides in Port Nyanzaru. He arrives in Chult as the carousing companion of Faroul, a spoiled Calishite human whose parents exiled him to make his fortune. The pair quickly squander Faroul’s inheritance at the dinosaur races, accumulating debts to multiple bookies and merchant princes.

Role & Characteristics

Gondolo fancies himself a poet, pugilist, and philosopher, though he fabricates important-sounding facts when his actual knowledge runs out. Despite his pretensions, he possesses the typical halfling luck and has a knack for narrowly escaping dangerous situations. He stands 3 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 80 “flaccid” pounds.

Key Asset

In desperation, Gondolo purchases a treasure map from a fever-stricken explorer needing passage money back to Baldur’s Gate. Miraculously, this map accurately indicates the location of Needle’s Bones (what the pair believes is an easily claimed dragon’s hoard). This map becomes their primary selling point when seeking employment.

As a Guide

Gondolo and Faroul hope to be hired by adventurers on an equal-shares basis to lead them to Needle’s Bones. Their only significant possession is Zongo, a flatulent racing triceratops they originally purchased for dinosaur racing. The animal proved hopelessly slow, so they now use it as a pack animal.
