Ilyber Kitcher is a Cormyrean explorer who supposedly discovered the inlet that bears his name several centuries ago. Despite his reputation, Kitcher was actually a pompous fraud and a terrible navigator. He did not discover the inlet at all—its existence and location were well known long before his arrival. Kitcher only stumbled upon it by accident after missing the Bay of Chult entirely and sailing down the peninsula’s eastern coast, eventually being blown back within sight of land by a storm.
The inlet is named after him despite his false claim to its discovery. It serves as a waterway where the River Olung empties into a shallow bay, providing access to the ruins of Port Castigliar and Mezro.
