Imbok is a grung (frog-person) captive of a vegepygmy tribe encountered near the Great Rift in Omu. When the party first arrives at the rift, they witness vegepygmies preparing to sacrifice him by rolling him off the cliff edge into the chasm below.

Identity & Background

Imbok claims to be the beloved 180th son of Yorb, the grung chieftain who controls the shrine at area 18 in Omu. He is bound with vines and restrained during the vegepygmy ritual.

Rescue & Behavior

If the characters intervene and free him from the vegepygmies (one chief, eight vegepygmies, and a thorny pet), Imbok grovels at their feet in gratitude. Though he doesn’t speak Common, he attempts to communicate a promise through gestures—offering to bury his rescuers in gold if they escort him safely back to his father’s shrine.

The Truth

Imbok’s promise of riches is empty—he has nothing of value to offer and is simply trying to secure safe passage home. Despite his royal lineage claim, he possesses no actual resources to reward the party.

Game Mechanics

The vegepygmy tribe that captured him consists of:

  • 1 vegepygmy chief
  • 8 vegepygmies
  • 1 thorny (the chief’s pet)

Statistics for these creatures and for grungs appear in appendix D of the adventure.
