Kalita is the first mate aboard the Dragonfang, one of three pirate ships operating out of Jahaka Anchorage. She is a female Chultan human who serves under Captain Elok Jaharwon, a wereboar who took command through mutiny approximately one year ago.
Role and Position
As first mate, Kalita is second-in-command of the Dragonfang and serves a captain known for having no patience or sense of humor. She works within the command structure of the pirate alliance at Jahaka Anchorage, which includes three ships operating in coordination with Liara Portyr of Fort Beluarian.
Pirate Operations
Kalita and the Dragonfang crew operate from a hidden sea cave anchorage that serves as a base for pirate raids. The pirates:
- Attack merchant vessels sailing to and from Port Nyanzaru
- Receive intelligence from Liara Portyr about shipping movements and naval patrols
- Avoid ships flying the ensign of Baldur’s Gate as part of their arrangement with Fort Beluarian
- Protect the secret location of their anchorage through blood oaths, attacking or capturing anyone who discovers it

The Dragonfang’s full crew under Kalita and Captain Jaharwon consists of:
- Fifteen Chultan bandits
- Three Chultan thugs
- A “sea witch” named Eye of the Deep (a Calishite druid)
Political Context
Kalita serves during a period of tension within the pirate alliance. Captain Jaharwon is building support among rank-and-file pirates across all three crews to end their profit-sharing arrangement with Fort Beluarian—a move the other captains view as strategically disadvantageous. This internal conflict may affect the stability of the pirate confederation.
