Khoti is a Chultan boy who serves as a translator for Overseer Issar, a yuan-ti malison who guards the captives’ quarters in the Fane of the Night Serpent.
Role and Function
Khoti interprets Issar’s subtle gestures—tail twitches, tongue flicks, and other body language—into verbal commands for the captives held in the quarters. However, Khoti largely fabricates these interpretations, as Issar is more interested in admiring his own reflection in a hand mirror than actually overseeing anyone. Issar tolerates this arrangement as long as he receives proper deference.
Interaction with Adventurers
When strangers appear before Issar, Khoti questions them on his master’s behalf, serving as the primary point of contact and communication.
Location
Khoti is found in area 19 (Captives’ Quarters) of the Fane of the Night Serpent, where 2d10 captives are held under guard by Issar and three yuan-ti broodguards.
