Overview
Nahth is a type 1 yuan-ti malison who commands the main gate of the Fane of the Night Serpent. He serves as the first line of defense for the temple, controlling access through the bronze doors at the northern entrance.
Role & Personality
Nahth guards the main gate (area 1) with four yuan-ti broodguards under his command. He denies entry to strangers unless they are accompanied by yuan-ti. His defining characteristic is his greed—he demands bribes from those he allows to pass, accepting either food (preferably meat) or treasure (minimum 10 gp). If visitors refuse to pay, he picks a fight with them.
Tactical Information
Combat Considerations
- Commands four yuan-ti broodguards at the gate
- Can call reinforcements from area 2 if combat erupts
- Guards three swarms of poisonous snakes confined to pits in the gate area
- The yuan-ti at this location pull reinforcements from area 2 as needed
Gate Mechanics
The bronze doors Nahth guards are decorated with coiled serpents and feature:
- A sliding hatch at head height
- Four-inch-wide holes at the base of each door
- Heavy chains on the south side that broodguards use to pull the doors open
- Holes large enough for yuan-ti malisons to transform into snakes and slither through
Exploiting Nahth
Characters assigned to muck out the dinosaur pen in area 2 as part of their labor duties learn that Nahth is susceptible to bribery—information that can be useful for gaining access to the temple or manipulating him.

- Gold ceremonial bracers sculpted to resemble bats (worth 150 gp for the pair)
