Nepartak is the 10-year-old granddaughter of Napaka, the last queen of Omu. Her disembodied skull is preserved in a crystal box in Moa’s tomb, her consciousness trapped within for centuries.

State and Condition

Nepartak exists only as a skull whose consciousness is magically preserved by the crystal box that contains it. Centuries of solitary confinement and horror have caused her mind to blank out the details of her predicament—she doesn’t understand what has happened to her or why she cannot see.

Behavior and Personality

Nepartak telepathically senses the presence of intruders entering the tomb and reaches out to them, her voice echoing in their minds. She manifests as a terrified child lost in darkness, asking confused questions about her situation:

  • Where she is and how she got there
  • Why she cannot see anything
  • Whether the characters are friends of her father and if he’s looking for her

Interaction and Consequences

The characters must carefully manage their interaction with Nepartak. To safely explore the area, they need to calm her without revealing her true state as a disembodied skull. Lying to her requires a successful DC 12 Charisma (Deception) check.

If the characters reveal the truth of her condition, fail three Charisma checks to deceive her, or simply ignore her, Nepartak grows increasingly anxious and then flies into a murderous rage. When enraged, the crystal box shatters and her skull levitates into the air, her eye sockets flaring with green flame.

Combat Statistics

When enraged, Nepartak uses the statistics of a flameskull with one modification: she doesn’t speak aloud, instead communicating via telepathy with a range of 30 feet. When she attacks, six swarms of undead spiders pour out from niches in the tomb walls on the following round.
