River Mist is a female tabaxi hunter who works as a wilderness guide in Chult alongside her brother, Flask of Wine. She operates out of Port Nyanzaru in league with the Zhentarim, meeting potential clients discreetly in Malar’s Throat or houses in Tiryki Anchorage rather than conducting business openly like other guides.
Appearance and Personality
River stands about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds. She wears leather armor and an eye patch covering her right eye, which she lost in a childhood sling accident. Uncomfortable in crowds, she is furtive in urban settings but truly at home in the jungle.
Relationship with Flask of Wine
River and her brother Flask (also known as Flask of Wine) work as a team. Flask is laconic and typically only speaks to agree with River, often repeating her last few words with a slight lisp while nodding. Despite his quiet nature, Flask enjoys being among people and is taller and lankier than his sister at 5 feet 8 inches and 140 pounds.

The siblings can guide characters to several locations:

- Dungrunglung
- The route to Mbala, where they’ve heard stories of an old woman who can animate the dead as zombies that retain their living abilities and memories
Zhentarim Connection
River and Flask work for the Zhentarim and pay no fees to the merchant princes. Their Zhent handlers have specifically instructed them to watch for Artus Cimber. If they encounter him, they attempt to learn as much as possible about him and report back to their masters in Port Nyanzaru—unless given sufficient incentive to remain silent.
The Zhentarim agent Rokah may introduce characters to River and Flask as part of a side quest, even offering to pay the guides’ fees if the characters help him infiltrate Fort Beluarian.
