Sephirius (often called “Seph”) is a dragonborn paladin who served as a member of the Company of the Yellow Banner, an adventuring party that came to Chult seeking the Tomb of the Nine Gods. The company included Lord Brixton (a Cormyrean knight), Bravus Boulderborn (a gold dwarf cleric of Moradin), Seward (a Chondathan human ranger), and Devlin (who kept the company’s journal).
Fate
Sephirius died in the tomb’s rotating crawlway trap (area 32), where his skeletal remains can be found approximately ten feet into tunnel B. The rotating tunnels claimed his life as the company attempted to navigate the dungeon’s deadly mechanisms.
Equipment
At the time of his death, Sephirius carried:
- A +1 yklwa (his primary weapon)
- A dungeoneer’s pack
- 8 gp in a pouch
- An ivory dinosaur claw back scratcher (worth 25 gp)
- A holy symbol of Bahamut (worth 25 gp), indicating his devotion to the platinum dragon god
- A red crystal eyeball (1 inch diameter) - one of the ten nonmagical keys needed to open the vault of the beholder in area 44
Context
Sephirius and his company made landfall at Kitcher’s Inlet, followed the River Olung to Lake Luo, then cut southwest through the jungle to reach Omu. In the ruined city, they collected puzzle cubes and evaded the yuan-ti before discovering the true entrance to the Tomb of the Nine Gods. Devlin’s journal (found in area 19) chronicles their expedition but makes only brief mention of their experiences inside the tomb itself.
