Taban is a Chultan human gladiator who owes 500 gp to K’lahu, a bookie operating at Executioner’s Run in Port Nyanzaru. He is introduced through a side quest where K’lahu recruits adventurers to help collect his debt, offering them a 10% commission.
Combat and Defeat
Taban refuses to pay his debt and fights until reduced to 20 or fewer hit points. Once beaten down, he produces a pouch containing ten 50 gp gemstones to settle the debt.
Potential Follower
After his defeat, Taban becomes ashamed and seeks redemption. He offers to join the party as a follower for the duration of the adventure, requiring no payment for his services. This transformation from debtor to loyal companion provides the party with an experienced combatant familiar with Chult.
