Ukurlahmu is a bone naga tasked with guarding the armory in the Fane of the Night Serpent. The skeletal serpent serves as a security mechanism, challenging intruders to provide the correct passphrase before granting access to the vault’s contents.

Role and Behavior

Ukurlahmu protects the armory from thieves but struggles to remember faces, relying instead on verbal authentication. It gives intruders three chances to speak the correct passphrase—currently “black mask”—before attacking. If the passphrase fails, the naga uses a bonus action to speak a magic command word that animates two minotaur skeletons from bones scattered on the floor to fight alongside it.

Distinctive Speech Pattern

The bone naga has a peculiar way of speaking that makes it easily recognizable:

  • Questions and demands: Prefaced with “It will…” or “They will…” (e.g., “They will tell us the passphrase!”)
  • Statements and answers: Always concluded with “so Ukurlahmu has spoken”

Authority and Rules

Officially, only three individuals know the arcane lock’s command phrase (“white feather”) to enter the armory: Ras Nsi, Sekelok, and Fenthaza. Once inside, Ukurlahmu enforces strict rules about the vault’s contents—particularly regarding Sekelok’s tortoise-shell shield. If anyone removes this magical shield from the wall, the naga coldly demands its immediate return and attacks if ignored.
