Waukeen is a goddess of trade and wealth worshiped in Chult, particularly in Port Nyanzaru. After the greater god Ubtao abandoned Chult over a century ago, the Chultans turned to other deities, including Waukeen, who became especially popular among the city’s many merchants.

Temple and Worship

Waukeen’s primary temple in Port Nyanzaru is known as the Hall of Gold, located on Mount Sibasa—the highest point in the city. The temple is famous for its shining golden roof (actually painted, not true gold) that can be seen for miles out at sea when the sun strikes it. A wide stone bridge connects Mount Sibasa to the Grand Coliseum on Yklwazi Hill.

High Priestess

The temple is led by Sibonseni, Mother of Prosperity (LN female Chultan priest), who serves as chief priest of Waukeen in Port Nyanzaru. She is one of the city’s most influential residents after the merchant princes, commanding tremendous support across all levels of society.

Temple Activities

The Hall of Gold engages in significant charitable work and civic improvements, earning widespread public affection. The temple also functions as one of the city’s richest banks, combining religious devotion with practical financial services.

When Mother Sibonseni travels through the streets, she rides in an elegant sedan chair accompanied by drummers, singers, dancers, and temple aides who distribute fistfuls of copper coins to the poor—a display that causes traffic jams but reinforces the people’s love for her and the temple.
