Xandala is a half-elf sorcerer who presents herself as Artus Cimber’s daughter, though her true relationship to him is questionable. She actively hunts Artus Cimber throughout Chult, seeking to claim the Ring of Winter from him.
Role in the Adventure
Xandala may first encounter the party in Port Nyanzaru as part of a side quest, where she approaches the characters feigning concern for her supposed father. She claims to have heard that Artus left the city with “a reptilian man who doesn’t talk and smells funny” (Dragonbait) and asks the adventurers to help locate him. She conceals her true motive—obtaining the Ring of Winter—from the party.
Motivations & Characteristics
Xandala’s singular goal is acquiring the Ring of Winter from Artus Cimber. Her pursuit of the ring is dangerous enough that her own companion, the pseudodragon Summerwise, believes the quest is too risky and has unsuccessfully attempted to dissuade her. Despite this, Xandala remains determined in her pursuit.
Key Relationships
Summerwise: Xandala’s pet pseudodragon serves as her companion but disapproves of the quest for the Ring of Winter. Good-aligned characters may be able to turn Summerwise against Xandala or extract information from the pseudodragon that could help them thwart her plans or aid Artus.
Artus Cimber: Xandala claims to be Artus’s daughter and actively searches for him throughout Chult. She is one of several threats pursuing Artus (alongside frost giants, the Zhentarim, Valindra Shadowmantle, and the Red Wizards of Thay) specifically to claim the Ring of Winter.
Threat Level
Xandala represents one of the persistent dangers to Artus Cimber throughout the adventure. If Artus travels with the party, Xandala can appear at any time attempting to take the ring from him, potentially endangering the entire group.
