Yokka is a goblin boss leading a band of Batiri goblins (two per party member) who are watching Camp Righteous and the nearby House of the Crocodile shrine. He and his followers wear wooden masks and hide in the foliage north of the abandoned camp.
Motivation and Plans
Yokka had a vision of treasure inside the shrine that could elevate his status within his tribe. However, he and his band believe the shrine is cursed and have spent the last ten days trying to muster the courage to tackle its traps. When adventurers arrive, Yokka sees them as an opportunity—either they will defeat the shrine’s defenses and he can steal the treasure from them as they emerge, or they will at least weaken the shrine’s protections.
Tactics
Yokka’s band employs guerrilla tactics to harass the party without revealing their presence until the optimal moment:
- Sabotage: If boats are left unguarded, the goblins steal them or damage them by knocking holes in their bottoms
- Ambush: If the entire party enters the shrine, the goblins set up an ambush outside
- Reinforcements: As a last resort, they use horns and animal calls to attract nearby threats:
- 1d8 zombies and 1d8 skeletons (undead)
- A hungry allosaurus and 1d4 + 1 axe beaks (aggressive beasts)
Context
Camp Righteous is an abandoned Order of the Gauntlet base that was overrun by undead several months ago. The goblins are opportunistically lurking near the site, waiting for someone else to deal with the dangerous shrine before making their move.
