Zalder Faelrond is a knight of Torm and member of the Order of the Gauntlet who serves as a potential prisoner encounter in the Tomb of the Nine Gods. He is a lawful good male Tethyrian human with the statistics of a knight, though he lacks armor and weapons when encountered.
Encounter Context
Zalder is found unconscious inside a leather body bag within the tomb, kept alive and comatose by the Sewn Sisters’ magic. He was kidnapped by the night hags while patrolling the jungle around Camp Vengeance. The magical effect maintaining his unconscious state can only be broken by splashing him with holy water, requiring a successful DC 17 Intelligence (Arcana or Religion) check to identify this solution.
Role in the Adventure
If rescued and awakened, Zalder requests an escort back to Camp Vengeance in the jungle (detailed in chapter 2). He serves as a default option for DMs who need a prisoner NPC when other story-relevant characters are unavailable or have already been encountered by the party.
