Zindar is a half-gold dragon who serves as Port Nyanzaru’s harbormaster. He spends most of his time patrolling the busy quayside rather than sitting in his office, preferring to use his imposing personal presence to resolve disputes and traffic problems directly. His clerks can take messages for him, and he typically responds within 1d6 hours.
Role in the Adventure
Zindar functions as a quest-giver for adventurers visiting Port Nyanzaru. When characters present themselves as adventurers, he offers them the “Hunt Pirates” side quest, seeking help to eliminate three pirate ships operating in the Bay of Chult: the Dragonfang, the Emerald Eye, and the Stirge. He offers bounties of 2,000 gp per captured ship brought into port, plus 500 gp for each pirate captain captured.
Affiliations
Zindar is a secret member of the Ytepka Society, a covert organization that works to maintain Port Nyanzaru’s interests. He has received authorization from the merchant princes to offer the pirate bounties. The reward money for these bounties is actually provided by Zhanthi, one of the merchant princes, though Zindar handles the public-facing aspects of the quest.
Location
His office is located in area 13 of Port Nyanzaru (Harbor Ward). Outside the office is a bulletin board listing wilderness guides available for hire. The office itself is described as a sturdy, airy building, though Zindar is rarely found there.
