Description

Acererak’s Scepter is a nonmagical mace resting on Acererak’s throne in the Tomb of the Nine Gods. It is made of solid iron with an adamantine head and weighs 12 pounds. Despite its impressive appearance and association with the demilich, this scepter has no magical properties.

Properties

  • Material: Solid iron body with adamantine head
  • Weight: 12 pounds
  • Weapon Type: Can be wielded as a mace
  • Magic: Nonmagical

Significance

This scepter has a magical twin hidden in area 53 of the tomb. The presence of a duplicate suggests the nonmagical version on the throne serves as either a decoy or a clue to adventurers exploring the dungeon.

Location

The scepter is found resting on Acererak’s throne in the throne room (area 52), which is constructed from the skin and bones of slain Omuan warriors with skulls of Omuan children piled around it. The throne itself is topped with the skull of Karagos, a minotaur guardian, which curses anyone who touches it or sits in the throne.
