The Disk of Eyes is a magical surveillance device in Obo’laka’s tomb (area 10) that serves as the tomb’s alarm system against intruders.
Properties
The disk is a heavy bronze object weighing 250 pounds, decorated with multiple moving eyes. The bronzed pupils constantly flick back and forth, actively scanning the tomb for intruders using darkvision out to a range of 30 feet.
Function
When the disk’s eyes spot any humanoids inside the tomb, it triggers the wights in the area to awaken and attack. However, the disk has several exploitable weaknesses:
- Cannot perceive humanoids wearing the papier-mâché masks worn by the wights
- Cannot see through magical darkness
- Cannot see while covered with a blanket or similar object
Removal
The disk is firmly gripped in the stone paws of bear statues flanking it. Removing the disk requires destroying these statues, which are Large objects with:
- AC 17
- 45 hit points
- Immunity to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage
- Immunity to poison and psychic damage
Detection
A detect magic spell reveals an aura of divination magic emanating from the disk.
