Description

The Lord of the Feast is a cursed magical object consisting of a giant boar’s severed head mounted on a wall. Fresh blood and gore constantly spatter its tusks and dribble down the wall, despite its apparent age.

Location

The Lord of the Feast is found in area 43 (Veils of Fear) in the Tomb of the Nine Gods, hidden behind the final tapestry curtain.

Mechanics

Charm Effect

Any humanoid that can see the severed boar’s head must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed. A charmed creature:

  • Does nothing on its turn except approach the head
  • Attempts to put its own head in the boar’s mouth
  • Waits patiently if another victim already occupies the mouth (only one head fits at a time)

Damage

Any creature ending its turn with its head in the boar’s mouth takes 22 (4d10) slashing damage as the jaws clamp down. If this damage reduces the creature to 0 hit points, the creature is decapitated.

Saving Throws

  • Charmed creatures can repeat the saving throw each time they take damage, ending the effect on a success
  • Once a creature successfully saves, it cannot be affected by the boar’s head for 24 hours

Destruction

The charm effect ends on all creatures when the Lord of the Feast is destroyed. The boar’s head is a Medium object with AC 5 and 22 hit points.
