Description

The Mirror of Life Trapping is a powerful magical artifact attached to the west wall of a 15-foot square room with sovereign glue. It appears as an ornate, rectangular mirror and functions as a deadly trap for unwary adventurers.

Magical Properties

Any creature within 30 feet of the mirror that sees its reflection must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or be imprisoned within one of the mirror’s twelve extradimensional cells, along with everything they are wearing or carrying. Constructs are immune to this effect and automatically succeed on the saving throw.

The mirror currently has three vacant cells. When a creature is trapped while all twelve cells are occupied, the mirror randomly releases one prisoner to make room for the new captive.

Command Words

The mirror has two command words that control its function:

  • “Khomara”: When spoken within 5 feet of the mirror, this word deactivates or reactivates the trap. While deactivated, the mirror cannot trap creatures.
  • “Blackfire”: When spoken along with a specific cell number, this word frees the creature trapped in that cell.

Discovering the Commands

The command words and magical properties can be revealed through:

  • An identify spell cast on the mirror
  • A spellbook found in area 28 of the tomb, which contains the written command words

Current Prisoners

The mirror currently holds nine prisoners across its twelve cells, with specific individuals listed in the “Prisoners of the Mirror” table. Each prisoner reacts differently if freed or communicated with.
