Moradin’s Gauntlet is a valuable dwarven relic and ceremonial artifact housed in the sealed treasury of Hrakhamar, the ancient dwarven forge now occupied by firenewts.
Properties
The gauntlet is crafted from gold and sized for an adult dwarf. It serves as a symbol of authority, traditionally worn by the overseers of Hrakhamar. The item is worth 2,500 gp, though a wealthy dwarf collector would pay up to 5,000 gp to acquire it.
Location
The gauntlet rests atop a crate within Hrakhamar’s treasury (area 6), which has remained sealed since the dwarves abandoned the forge. The treasury door features two locks embedded in adamantine frames bearing dwarven runes for “beginnings” and “endings.” The lower lock is trapped and will retract the metal gantry over the magma river if triggered improperly.
Related Quest
Musharib, an albino dwarf spirit warrior who serves as a potential guide, secretly seeks adventurers capable of infiltrating Hrakhamar’s treasury to retrieve Moradin’s Gauntlet. He particularly appeals to any dwarven party members, framing the quest as a matter of dwarven heritage and the reclamation of his clan’s ancestral forge.
Accessing the Treasury
Opening the treasury requires both keys, which must be used in the correct order (upper lock first, then lower). The original keys were incorporated into a statue in the firenewts’ shrine of Imix (area 7), though the firenewts don’t recognize their significance. Alternatively, a character proficient with smith’s tools can craft replacement keys from impressions found in an iron book-shaped box in a side chamber near the treasury (DC 10 Intelligence check). Both Musharib and Sithi Vinecutter possess the necessary proficiency to create these keys.
