Description
The Green Devil Face is a large stone carving (6 feet tall) with a devilish appearance protruding from a wall in the Maze of Death. Its most striking feature is its wide-open mouth (2 feet in diameter) filled with darkness.
Properties
The devil face radiates an aura of transmutation magic detectable by magical means.
The darkness within the mouth is actually a sphere of annihilation—an extremely deadly magical phenomenon that cannot be controlled or moved by any means. Any matter that enters the sphere is instantly annihilated.
Mechanics
Characters standing within 5 feet of the sphere can hear a faint whisper emanating from it. A successful DC 12 Wisdom (Perception) check allows them to discern words spoken in Abyssal: “Darkness is coming for you. Your doom is at hand.”
The sphere functions as a permanent, immovable hazard that poses an instant-death threat to anyone or anything that enters it.
