Description

The Chapel of Hate is an underground chamber designed by Acererak for a dark ritual. It features black basalt pillars and a polished obsidian altar, creating an atmosphere of malevolence befitting its intended purpose.

Purpose

This chapel was built for a specific ceremony: the baptism of the atropal in the blood of a worthy sacrifice. Acererak intends to perform this ritual once the atropal has consumed enough souls to be ready for this dark sacrament.

Key Features

The Altar

A polished obsidian altar serves as the focal point of the chapel. Resting on it is a leather body bag, roughly the size and shape of a human body, which has been sewn shut. Inside this bag is a sacrifice prepared by the Sewn Sisters specifically for the atropal’s baptism ceremony.

Shackled Prisoners

Eight emaciated, green-skinned creatures with single baleful eyes are shackled to the chapel walls. These gibbering monsters drool and shake their manacles when they detect visitors, desperately eager to be set free.

Access Points

  • South Wall: Contains a mist gate archway through which creatures enter from area 77
  • North Side: A heavy black drape hangs from an archway beyond the altar
  • The mist gate allows two-way travel between this chapel and area 77

Relationship to Other Entities

  • Acererak: The architect and intended officiant of the baptism ceremony
  • The Atropal: The intended recipient of the dark baptism ritual
  • The Sewn Sisters: Procured and prepared the sacrifice contained in the leather body bag
