The Grung Hovels are residential structures scattered along the shores of Lake Grunglung within the grung settlement of Dungrunglung. These squat, dome-shaped huts serve as living quarters for the grung inhabitants of the settlement.
Construction
The hovels are constructed from swamp moss and reeds plastered together with mud, creating durable waterside dwellings. They range from 15 to 25 feet in diameter and feature:
- A single, low entrance
- Small, round window-like openings (on some huts)
- Stout mud chimneys (on some huts)
Inhabitants
Each hut houses six adult grungs plus 2d6 baby grungs (who are noncombatants). The occupants of each individual hut belong to the same grung caste, as evidenced by their matching skin color. The only exception to the color uniformity is the young grungs, which are all dull green-gray regardless of their eventual caste designation.
Social Structure
The housing arrangement reflects the rigid caste system of grung society, with members of the same caste living together in their designated hovels, segregated by their social rank and skin color.
