Description
A large ceremonial mustering hall within the Fane of the Night Serpent, featuring a 20-foot-high ceiling supported by four pillars carved with serpent reliefs. The room’s centerpiece is an 18-foot-high statue of a coiled cobra facing north. Green-flamed torches illuminate the space, which reeks of dung.
Purpose and Function
The Hall of War serves as the yuan-ti’s primary staging area where troops gather before heading into Omu. The hall functions as both a military assembly point and a defensive position within the fane.
Occupants and Forces
Yuan-ti Garrison:
- Soakosh - A fat yuan-ti pureblood commander with a forked tongue who habitually carries candied grung eggs (his favorite food)
- Four yuan-ti broodguards - Stationed under Soakosh’s command
Combat Assets:
- Two basilisks - Chained to hooks in the western alcoves, trained not to make eye contact with yuan-ti masters. The alcove floors are littered with chewed stone fragments from petrified victims
- One triceratops - A docile dinosaur confined to a metal pen in the northwest corner, used to pull supply wagons
Tactical Considerations
Combat Response:
- When the alarm is raised, Soakosh commands broodguards to unchain the basilisks and deploy them as war hounds
- If combat erupts without prior alarm, one broodguard runs to sound the gong in area 9
- If threatened with fire or injured, the triceratops will smash through its pen walls and flee toward area 1
Contents
Two supply wagons are parked in one corner, likely used in conjunction with the triceratops for logistics.
