Hisari is a ruined yuan-ti city located in the jungle at the foot of the Crown, a volcanic mountain marking the western end of the Sky Lizard Mountains. The city was once the center of yuan-ti civilization in Chult before its inhabitants were driven out and relocated to Omu.

Physical Description

The city exists in two parts: half of Hisari was swallowed by the earth and now rests in a sprawling underground cavern that has never been warmed by the sun. The above-ground portion remains engulfed by jungle vegetation—vines and creeping flowers cover every surface, while moss coats the brick and stone structures. A lattice-work of roots and volcanic ash covers the city’s cracked, golden domes.

The Ward

A powerful magical ward, similar to an antipathy/sympathy spell, prevents yuan-ti from entering the city. This enchantment is what drove the serpent folk to abandon their ancient home and seek a new stronghold elsewhere.

Historical Significance

Approximately fifty years ago, a brood of yuan-ti from Hisari slithered into Omu and established it as their new home after being unable to return to their cursed city. The survivors built an underground temple beneath Omu’s old palace and eventually came under the leadership of the warlord Ras Nsi.

Adventure Relevance

Hisari represents the yuan-ti’s lost homeland and explains their presence in Omu. The city’s inaccessible status makes it a mysterious location in the Chultan jungle, though the adventure does not detail it as an explorable location for player characters.
