Overview

The Mirror Tomb is a parallel demiplane crafted by Acererak as a testing ground for his traps. It exists within a circular corridor accessible through an invisible, undetectable planar gate. This duplicate tomb is identical to the real Tomb of the Nine Gods as it appeared exactly one year prior.

Location and Access

The planar gate is located at the halfway point of a circular corridor, directly opposite an intersection. The gate is completely invisible and cannot be detected by magical means. Characters passing through it enter the demiplane without warning—they only notice the transition when Devlin’s body and companions who stayed behind vanish from sight. Stepping back through the gate returns them to the real world.

Properties and Mechanics

  • Identical Construction: The mirror tomb replicates the true tomb’s layout and magical defenses exactly as they existed one year ago
  • Illusory Reality: All objects and creatures encountered appear completely real, but fade away if removed to the real world
  • Deadly Consequences: Despite being a demiplane, the mirror tomb is fully lethal—characters who die here are still trapped by the Soulmonger
  • Daily Reset: Each dawn, Acererak’s magic completely refreshes the mirror tomb:
    • Slain monsters reappear in their original locations
    • Moved objects teleport back to their starting positions
    • Characters inside witness a strange distortion ripple through the air during this reset

Purpose

Acererak created this demiplane specifically to test his trap designs before implementing them in the true tomb, ensuring their lethality while maintaining a renewable testing environment.
