Overview

Nangnang’s Shrine is a ruined temple dedicated to Nangnang, one of the nine trickster gods (represented by a grung). The shrine is located in the swampy sections of Omu and houses one of the nine puzzle cubes required to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods.

Physical Description

The shrine is an arrowhead-shaped edifice that squats in muddy water (2 feet deep). It features:

  • Monoliths adorned with prancing, frog-like figures rising from the swamp
  • Bushes and trees growing from its roof
  • A slime-caked stone door at the pointed front of the building, accessed by ascending steps

Current Inhabitants

A small colony of grungs lives on the rooftops around the shrine. They worship Nangnang and consider the shrine holy ground reserved for their chieftain and elite guards. The grung chieftain Yorb leads this colony and harbors deep-seated vengeance against Ras Nsi, who regularly raids the grungs to reduce their numbers. Despite his desire for revenge, Yorb has not yet devised a successful attack plan.

Adventure Significance

The shrine is one of nine trickster god shrines scattered throughout Omu. The party must explore this location to obtain one of the puzzle cubes necessary to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods and progress toward stopping the death curse.

  • Nangnang - The trickster god (grung) to whom this shrine is dedicated
  • Yorb - Grung chieftain who controls the shrine area
  • Ras Nsi - Yuan-ti antagonist who regularly attacks the grung colony
  • Tomb of the Nine Gods - The ultimate destination requiring puzzle cubes from this and other shrines
