Papazotl’s Shrine is a walled ruined structure located in a muddy lake bed in Omu, dedicated to the trickster god Papazotl, who is represented by an eblis (a long-legged bird with a needle-like beak). The shrine is one of nine locations in the city that contains a puzzle cube necessary to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods.
Description
The shrine stands in 2 feet of water, surrounded by wallowing crocodiles. Two columns carved with images of the eblis flank the entrance. Slimy steps ascend from the water to an entry arch at the front of the building.
Significance
This shrine is a key location in the adventure, as the party must recover the puzzle cube hidden within as part of their quest to access the Tomb of the Nine Gods. All nine puzzle cubes from the various trickster god shrines scattered throughout Omu are required to progress.
