Overview

The Revolving Room Trap is a deadly mechanical hazard comprised of three interconnected areas within the Tomb of the Nine Gods. It consists of a control room (area 38A), an access tunnel (area 38B), and a massive revolving cylindrical chamber (area 38C) that functions as the trap itself. The trap is designed to disorient, separate, and potentially kill adventurers through its rotating mechanism.

Structure

The trap system is built around a large rotating drum that can be controlled from area 38A. The three sections work together as a single complex trap:

  • Area 38A (Control Room): Contains the mechanisms to operate the revolving drum
  • Area 38B (Access Tunnel): Provides entry to the rotating chamber
  • Area 38C (Revolving Drum): The main trap - a cylindrical chamber that rotates, creating dangerous effects for those inside

Diagram Reference

The tomb’s design includes Diagram 5.2, which provides a side-view schematic of how these three areas relate to each other spatially, showing the vertical and horizontal relationships between the control room, access corridor, and the rotating chamber itself.

Purpose

This trap serves as one of the tomb’s many lethal obstacles, designed to test and potentially eliminate intruders. Its revolving nature likely causes disorientation, potential damage from the rotation itself, and separation of party members who might be trapped at different points in the drum’s rotation cycle.
