The Ruined Bazaar is a derelict market hall in Omu, located on a street corner with tattered cloth awnings hanging over a broad alley lined with abandoned stalls.
Inhabitants and Threats
Kobolds inhabit hidden cellars beneath the marketplace and have rigged the bazaar with six traps to protect their lair. The traps consist of spring-loaded catapults with tripwires or pressure plates as triggering mechanisms, duplicating the Weapon Invention attack of a kobold inventor when set off.
Investigation and Discovery
Characters searching the bazaar have a cumulative 20% chance per minute to find a trap. Upon finding a trap, a DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check determines whether they spot it without triggering it (success allows easy disarmament or avoidance) or accidentally set it off (failure).
After characters find three traps, they spot a kobold retreating down a well-hidden staircase on the bazaar’s outskirts. Following this kobold leads to the cellars beneath the marketplace where the kobolds make their home.
