Overview

Shagambi’s Shrine is a ruined shrine located within a walled compound in the city of Omu. It is one of nine shrines dedicated to the trickster gods, each containing a puzzle cube necessary to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods. This shrine is dedicated to Shagambi, represented as a kamadan (a jaguar with six snakes sprouting from its shoulders).

Physical Description

The shrine features tall monoliths flanking the entrance, decorated with images of Shagambi’s kamadan form. A stone door is set into the shrine structure beyond the entrance. A cart is located at the back of the shrine.

Inhabitants

The shrine serves as the lair for two mated kamadans (see Appendix D for stats) who have claimed it as their territory. The pair are highly protective of their three young cubs, which currently resemble baby leopards. The cubs are noncombatants and will not develop their characteristic shoulder snakes for another 6 months, reaching full adulthood within a year.

Tactical Considerations

  • The kamadans attempt to ambush intruders if they hear them approaching
  • The adult kamadans fight ferociously to protect their young
  • The cubs can potentially be captured and domesticated, but they invariably turn on their masters once they reach adulthood in a year, making them dangerous long-term companions

Significance

This shrine contains one of the nine puzzle cubes required to access the Tomb of the Nine Gods, making it a crucial location for adventurers seeking to stop the death curse.
