The Sky Lizard Mountains form a significant geographical feature in Chult, serving as the northern boundary of the Valley of Dread—a major eastern approach into Chult. The mountain range is described as windworn, creating a natural barrier alongside the Sanrach Mountains to the south.
Geographic Significance
The western end of the Sky Lizard Mountains is marked by the Crown, a fuming volcano at whose base lies the ruined yuan-ti city of Hisari. This ruined city is notable for a powerful magical ward (similar to an antipathy/sympathy spell) that prevents yuan-ti from entering, forcing many of its former serpent folk inhabitants to relocate to Omu.
Valley of Dread
The mountains form the northern containment of the Valley of Dread, a treacherous passage through dense jungle. This valley serves as a likely route for explorers entering Chult from the east and is notorious as a stomping ground for dinosaurs of all kinds, as well as being home to lizardfolk realms ruled by heartless monarchs.
