Temple Hill is one of the four steep hills that define Port Nyanzaru’s geography. It is completely walled off from the lower ground and sits on the westernmost side of the city.

Physical Features

The hill is dominated by the temple of Savras, giving Temple Hill its name. Like other structures in Port Nyanzaru, the walls are impressive barriers of massive, fitted stone decorated with colorful paintings of geometric designs, animals, and mythic figures.

Connections

A wide stone bridge crosses on arched columns from Temple Hill eastward to Throne Hill, the site of Goldenthrone. This bridge provides the primary connection between the two elevated districts.

An elevated causeway connects Temple Hill to the isolated Temple of Sune, which sits atop a rocky formation in the sea. This causeway provides the only land access to Sune’s temple (the alternative being boat access).

Context

Temple Hill is part of the wealthy, defended inner city of Port Nyanzaru. The city’s burgeoning wealth has driven the richest residents to raise these defensive walls against the jungle’s dangers and potentially against the less-well-off districts that lie outside the main walls. The steep, stepped streets and terraces surround the hill, characteristic of Port Nyanzaru’s elevated geography.
