The Throne Room is a ceremonial chamber on Level 4 of the Tomb of the Nine Gods, serving as a macabre hall of Acererak’s power. The room features a vaulted ceiling supported by four pillars and a ten-foot-deep sunken central floor surrounded by elevated ledges without railings.

Layout and Features

The chamber’s ledges stand 10 feet above the sunken floor, with the ceiling rising 15 feet above the ledges (25 feet above the sunken area). Alcoves along the ledges contain painted wooden statues depicting hornet-headed humanoid warriors in grass skirts, each clutching decorative spears. These 150-pound statues are harmless—their spears are non-functional.

The Throne of Acererak

A grotesque throne dominates the west ledge, constructed from lashed-together bones and strips of skin. A fearsome horned skull crowns the throne’s back, while small skulls pile around its base. The throne’s seat consists of stretched skin, upon which rests a metal scepter. This throne represents Acererak’s seat of power within the tomb.

The Blind Artists

Three gaunt humanoid figures perpetually shuffle about the sunken floor. These undead wear dusty, cobweb-draped robes and have their eyes and mouths stitched shut. Armed with brushes and clay pots of pigment, they continuously paint the walls and pillars with grim, poorly executed illustrations—a grisly tableau of eternal, futile artistic labor.
