Wongo’s Shrine is a ruined shrine dedicated to Wongo, one of the nine trickster gods of Omu (represented by a su-monster). The shrine contains one of the nine puzzle cubes required to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods.

Description

The shrine features two cracked obelisks decorated with carvings of monkeys hanging by their tails standing before broken walls. The courtyard is overgrown with horsetails and arum lilies. Five archways open into the shrine’s interior, with a stone plaque mounted above the central arch bearing an inscription in Old Omuan: “Better to be Wongo’s friend than his enemy.”

Notable Features

Portcullis Trap: Four of the five entrance corridors have portcullises raised into their lintels. When a character claims the puzzle cube from area 12B, these portcullises slam shut, sealing off the corridors. Each portcullis weighs 600 pounds and requires a combined Strength score of at least 20 to lift. Characters can prevent a portcullis from dropping by jamming it with at least two iron spikes.
